There are so many things I wanted to do with you; At first was a trip in your souped-up car along the mountainside, far into the horizon, into the blue.
Second was a ride through the forest winds on your electric bike with backward-facing caps. Arriving at a hidden pet shop to pick up a pair of matching black cats.
Then back to a home we chose secured by a line of white picket fences. We’d enter the foyer to the smells of burning sandalwood incense.
We would curate a dinner together of Italian make; and then for dessert, a fruit-topped homemade cheesecake.
Soon after, we would retire to the front and sit side-by-side upon a wooden porch swing. To our comfort, we would cuddle ever closer and cling.
We’d decide on names for the cats, while tiptoed barefoot around the tall grass; Isis and Osiris were our choices, embodying them with a presence and giving them profound voices.
Night has fallen well and you take me hand-in-hand. You pull me up gently and whisper to me; even though we’ve been through what once seemed like quicksand, together now we will always stand.
You say “Close your eyes.” and guide me to sit together on the roof. You say “Open them.” to the view of countless stars and the moon. A tear leaves your eye as you say “Once upon a time I was a child, and wished for you on this very same moon. I recall daily the moment you said to me, ‘I LOVE YOU’… I wish for you to know… it was never a moment too soon.”
So let’s make this promise between ourselves upon the moon and the stars; to stay true to each other, our passion, and our love. To fill our days with fun, laughter, and of course; our cats and cars… and that from this moment; nothing will pull us apart…
