Autism: a thank you from an inner child.

Writer's picture: Mark M. PerryMark M. Perry

I want to thank you. Where no one understood my language, you took the time to listen. I can sing again. Where I was once colorblind, I now see colors no one can perceive. I can see through the darkness. When the rain poured and the thunder made me shiver, you sheltered me from the storm. I can overcome any fear. When people mistreated me for loving in ways they couldn't understand, you showed me I could give that love to myself. I can feel free again. When they told me wishes were just fantasy, you showed me how having faith could pull dreams into reality. I can live the life that I have always dreamed of. You've given me everything I needed when the world could not meet me halfway.
